Now Serving Happiness in All its Best, Sugary Forms.
Perhaps the most explosive thing to happen in Carmel on the 4th of July, Sea Shack Candy Co. has officially opened its door to the eager, sweet-toothed public. The cozy boutique features confectionery and delights from all around the world, giving Carmel access to sweet treats that many didn't know existed yet soon won't be able to live without.
Some of the most sought-after varieties include their Swedish Bubs brand gummies, which can even be hard to find in their country of origin right now—but thanks to Sea Shack, Carmel has them. Flavors range from Raspberry Licorice to Fizzy Soda, and the spectrum of textures and types is equally extravagant and enticing. For those who want to try one of everything, pick-and-mix is another popular option. No shortage of fun here.
Some of the sweet selection at Sea Shack Candy Co.
Sea Shack Candy Co. comes to town thanks to a generational family of Carmelites who realized there was unfed demand for high-quality, hard-to-find, addictive candy. The shop is equal parts store and gallery, showcasing its edible art on well-stocked shelves that transform the space into a must-visit destination for candy lovers. Sea Shack is easy to find, too; their blue trim stands out in San Carlos Square, right next to Barmel and just a few steps up the sidewalk from Nielsen's.

Many customers will never know that the candy emporium wasn't slated to open until later this year, that it was a collective, passionate effort from the family to open the doors in time for Independence Day. The truth is, though, the sped-up timeline doesn't show—from the warm smiles to the inviting layout, the shop feels carefully planned and curated. Perhaps even more true is that even if the shop did not feel so welcoming, it's hard to believe that any customer would care. The sweet goods are simply that irresistible.
